Concrete Hot Tub, Shed & Equipment Pads Nampa ID

A concrete pad under a hot tub, shed, generator or AC unit keeps it level for years instead of letting it sink crooked into the lawn. These are small pours, but the prep is the same as for a big slab: dig out the soft topsoil, compact a base, form it square and level, then pour.

Hot Tub Pads

A filled hot tub with people in it puts a lot of weight on a small footprint. Angi's patio guide recommends 6 to 8 inches of reinforced concrete under heavy loads like hot tubs and outdoor kitchens, thicker than a typical patio. We check the tub maker's base requirements, set the pad dead level so the shell isn't stressed, and plan the spot for the electrical disconnect with you. The electrician handles the wiring and its permit; we leave a clean path for the conduit.

Shed Pads

HomeGuide's 2026 guide lists a concrete shed foundation at $600 to $4,800 for a 10-by-10 to 20-by-20-foot slab, usually about 4 inches thick. Before you pick a size, know Nampa's rules: a detached shed of 200 square feet or less doesn't need a building permit unless it's in the floodplain or hardwired with electrical, and any shed hardwired for 120-volt power needs a permit and a permanent foundation. The City also asks you to check with Planning and Zoning on setbacks and easements before you build.

Generator, AC and Equipment Pads

Standby generators, heat pumps, AC condensers and pool equipment all run better on a level, stable base that sits above the mud. We size the pad to the unit's footprint plus service clearance, slope it slightly to shed water, and keep it off the foundation where vibration could carry into the house.

Adding a Pad to a Bigger Pour

Every concrete delivery and crew trip has a fixed cost, so a small pad poured on the same day as a patio, driveway or walkway usually costs less than a separate trip. If you're planning a hot tub next year, ask about pouring its pad with this year's project.

Pad Sizes Worth Planning Ahead

  1. Hot tub: the shell footprint plus room to walk around it and lift the cover.
  2. Shed: the shed's outside dimensions plus a few inches so the walls don't overhang.
  3. Generator or heat pump: the unit's base plus the maker's required clearances.
  4. Trash and recycling carts: a strip beside the garage or fence line so carts don't sit in the mud.
