Concrete Steps, Porches & Walkways Nampa ID

Concrete steps that tilt, crumble or pull away from the house, and walkways that crack into trip edges, are some of the most common concrete calls in Nampa. We tear out and re-pour front steps and porches, and form new walks from the driveway to the door, around the side of the house, or out to the backyard.

Front Steps and Porches

Old steps often fail at the base. Water gets under them, the ground settles, and the whole block leans away from the house. New poured steps get a proper footing, reinforcement, and a slight forward pitch on each tread so water runs off instead of sitting and freezing. The City of Nampa lists a 24-inch frost depth for building foundations, and we take frost into account wherever steps or landings need footings.

HomeGuide's 2026 national guide puts custom poured concrete steps at $200 to $500 per step, or $1,000 to $5,000 for 5 to 10 steps, and precast steps at $100 to $350 per step. Removing old steps adds roughly $3 to $8 per square foot.

Repair or Replace?

Chipped edges and small cracks on otherwise solid steps can sometimes be patched; HomeGuide lists typical step repairs at $300 to $800. Steps that have separated from the house, sunk on one side, or crumbled through the treads are usually better replaced, because a patch won't stop the movement underneath.

Walkways and Garden Paths

A walkway is narrow, so it moves more easily than a wide slab when the ground shifts. We compact the base, set the forms to drain away from the house, and tool joints close enough together to keep cracks straight. HomeGuide puts sidewalks and walkways at $7 to $17 per square foot installed nationally. A broom finish keeps walks grippy when they're wet or frosty, and a stamped border or colored band dresses up the front entry.

Railings and Safety

Steps that need a handrail can be poured with sleeves or anchors ready for it. HomeGuide lists stair railings at $20 to $250 per linear foot depending on material. We'll tell you where a rail makes sense and leave the mounting points in the right spots.

Private Walks vs. Public Sidewalks

Walks on your own lot don't need a City right-of-way permit. Sidewalks along the street, driveway approaches and curb ramps are public right-of-way and do; that work is covered on our public sidewalk page.
