Curb & Gutter, Sidewalk & Driveway Approach Concrete Nampa ID

Driveway approaches, curb cuts, public sidewalks and curb and gutter all sit in the public right-of-way, the strip the City controls between your property line and the street. That work follows City permits, standard specifications and inspections, and we plan every job around them.

The City of Nampa Right-of-Way Permit

Any concrete work in a public right-of-way in Nampa, including driveway approaches, sidewalks and curb and gutter, requires a Right-of-Way Permit from the City's Engineering Division before construction starts. The City's current application:

  1. lists a $75 fee for the driveway approach, sidewalk and curb and gutter category;
  2. asks for at least 48 hours to process;
  3. says not to begin work until the permit is issued;
  4. requires an Engineering inspection at least 24 hours before concrete is placed;
  5. requires work to follow the City of Nampa Standard Specifications and the Idaho Standards for Public Works Construction (ISPWC);
  6. requires the contractor to notify Digline at 1-800-342-1585 before excavating.

City Code 10-22-5.D.1 says a right-of-way permit is valid for six months unless extended.

Driveway Approaches and Curb Cuts

A new or widened approach means saw-cutting the existing curb and gutter, removing it, and pouring an approach that meets the street, the gutter flow line and the sidewalk at the right elevations. Done wrong, it holds water in the gutter or scrapes the bottom of every car that turns in. If you're widening for a driveway extension or RV pad, the approach usually has to widen with it.

Sidewalk Replacement

Broken or lifted sidewalk panels in front of a home or business get saw-cut at joints, removed and re-poured to match the panels beside them. Where a sidewalk meets a crosswalk or intersection, curb ramps have their own slope and landing requirements.

Curb and Gutter

Curb and gutter carries street drainage, so its elevations matter as much as its looks. We replace damaged runs and match grade to the existing flow line so water keeps moving to the inlets.

Outside Nampa City Limits

Right-of-way rules change at the city line. In Ada County, public roads are generally under the Ada County Highway District (ACHD), which issues its own approach and right-of-way permits; parts of Canyon County fall under local highway districts, and state highways go through the Idaho Transportation Department. We confirm which agency owns the street before we quote.
